چکیده

Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) was developed by Franz Munz inGermanyduring the 1930s as an alternative to citric acid. About the same time, Frederick Bersworth synthesized EDTA in the United States using a different technique. He obtained aUSpatent for this technique in1945. EDTAwas approvedby the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a food additive in 1947. Since the early 1950s, EDTA has been used in chelation treatment for lead poisoning. EDTA is a white, odorless, and crystalline (sugar or sandlike) material. It has a molecular weight of 292.28 and its melting point is 2401 C. It is water insoluble.

Evaluation of growth performance and body composition of great sturgeon (Huso huso) juveniles fed with different levels of Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid

In this study, the effect of Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) was evaluated on growth performance and body composition in beluga (Huso huso) juveniles. For this purpose, a total of 225 beluga juveniles with initial weight 38.47 ± 0.58 gr (Mean ±   Standard Division) were fed with five treatments with three replications including 0 g/kg EDTA (Control, C), 5 g/kg EDTA (EDTA 5), 10 g/kg ED...

Ecofriendly synthesis of biscoumarin derivatives catalyzed by EDTA-modified magnetic animal bone meal nanoparticles in water

In this research, magnetic animal bone meal nanoparticles functionalized with ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (Fe3O4@ABM-EDTA) is reported as a green recyclable catalyst that catalyzed synthesis of biscoumarin derivatives in water. The catalyst was characterized by the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential thermogra...

Poorer Prognosis With Ethylenediaminetetraacetic Acid-dependent Pseudothrombocytopenia

In ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA)-dependent pseudothrombocytopenia (PTCP), automated platelet counts are lower than actual counts because of EDTA-induced aggregation. Factors contributing to the incidence of EDTA-PTCP are unknown, and no study has assessed the prognosis of EDTA-PTCP patients. This retrospective study assessed characteristics in EDTA-PTCP patients and matched controls to...

Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid in endodontics

Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) is a chelating agent can bind to metals via four carboxylate and two amine groups. It is a polyamino carboxylic acid and a colorless, water-soluble solid, which is widely used to dissolve lime scale. It is produced as several salts, notably disodium EDTA and calcium disodium EDTA. EDTA reacts with the calcium ions in dentine and forms soluble calcium chela...
